Park Reservations and Permits

The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation has many beautiful local and regional parks where you can reserve picnic areas or other facilities for your special event.

PARK AND PICNIC AREA RESERVATIONS

Many parks will reserve group picnic areas, community centers, or other areas of the park for your special events. Call the park of your choice to find out more information on reservation availability and requirements.

BOUNCERS, JUMPERS, PLAY EQUIPMENT

AND/OR AMPLIFIED SOUND

Some facilities may allow bouncers, play equipment and amplified sound equipment for parties. When making your reservation at the park, inquire as to whether the equipment you need is allowed at that location. A list of requirements will be provided to you at the time of your reservation inquiry.

WEDDINGS

The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation offers many beautiful outdoor and indoor facilities for weddings. Most parks can be used for wedding sites and our community buildings can accommodate your reception needs. You may prefer a natural, outdoor wedding, or may wish an indoor ceremony in a community building. Many golf courses have banquet facilities that offer full services for weddings and receptions. Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, Descanso Gardens, and the South Coast Botanic Garden provide beautiful garden facilities where you can plan the wedding of your dreams. You can obtain more information by linking to our “For the Wedding Planner” page under the “Still Photography and Filming Permits” link on the left navigation bar, or you may also contact the facility directly to find out more about requirements and reservations by linking to our “Golf” or “Parks, Gardens & Trails” pages on the left navigation bar.

Photography and film permits

All filming at County parks, other than non-commercial photos such as among family members, requires a film permit issued by Film LA. Inc., the entity authorized by the County Los Angeles Board of Supervisors to process film permits for County-operated facilities.

Even student film projects and those by non-profit – 501(c) -- organizations require permits, although the Department of Parks and Recreation will waive location fees for those categories.

Contact should be made with the desired facility to determine dates of availability. A walk-through may also be scheduled with staff to determine the location, accommodations requested and staff monitor requirements and availability.

Once availability is confirmed, you may apply for a film permit by contacting Film L.A. Inc. at www.filmla.com or by calling (213) 977-8600.

To find out detailed information on still photography and film permits click on the “Still Photography & Filming Permits” page under the left navigation bar.
