Since the mid 1970s bicycle enthusiasts have been racing and competing on the popular Whittier Narrows BMX track.  This professional dirt track is open three days a week for thrill seekers ages five and older.  Every Saturday, spectators from across the County of Los Angeles visit the track to watch novice and professional non-motocross bikers navigate the curves and hills of the course. With the help of dedicated volunteers, the American Bicycle Association (ABA) offers practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays to bicyclists of all skill levels and annually hosts state qualifying races.

Note 06/27/2016: Over the last few days the Department of Parks and Recreation received numerous inquiries regarding the status of the BMX Track at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. We value everyone's comments during this time and understand that our BMX Track brings much needed recreational opportunities for many families.  The Department is committed to ensuring the track remains open and in operation and is scheduled to meet next week to formalize a short-term agreement with the current concessionaire.  We look forward to staying in contact with many of our park patrons.
