Effective July 1, 2018, residents seeking relief from the hot California sun during the summer season will be able to swim and cool off at County lake swim beaches for a longer time-period as a result of an additional County General Fund allocation.

Swimming at three lake swim beaches will be permitted from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. seven days a week through Sept. 3, 2018 following action by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Lake swim beaches are available at Castaic Lake State Recreation Area in Castaic, Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas, and Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area in Irwindale.

John Wicker, Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, thanked the Board of Supervisors for its support, and encouraged residents to visit county lakes for their enjoyment.

“No matter what your age is, there’s a county lake near you to enjoy and cool off during the summer season,” he said. “Our refreshing pristine lakes are the perfect destination for the entire family to relish and spend quality time together.”
