The Department of Parks and Recreation partnered with the Trust for Public Land to provide twenty one (21) Fitness Zones at its County parks. Each fitness zone consists of a grouping of aerobic and skeletal exercise equipment. The goal for providing this fitness equipment is to offer the public access to high quality equipment that will provide for a well rounded workout, equivalent to that obtained at fitness centers. The locations for the equipment are all ADA accessible, well lit, and have drinking fountains.
Each Fitness Zone is approximately 1,000 square feet in area, and has a comfortable walking surface. Most have decomposed granite as the surface, but some were upgraded to have rubber surfacing. On the average, each site has nine (9) pieces of fitness equipment.
