With summer just around the corner, are you looking for things to do that the entire family can enjoy?
Then look no further than the Department of Parks and Recreation’s latest issue of P&R Magazine, now available online. In the summer issue, you’ll find detailed information about a wide variety of programs, activities, classes and special events that offer something for everyone!
Also in this issue, we focus on what the Department’s Parks After Dark (PAD) program offers residents at 33 County parks, including first-hand testimonials from participants. PAD, which begins June 14, encourages healthy living, promotes social connectedness and provides safe havens during extended evening hours of park operation and programming at parks countywide.
PAD Parks will be kept open to provide local youth and families with a variety of free recreational opportunities, health outreach and social services on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and will last until Aug. 4. For a list and map of participating parks, please click here.
“Parks After Dark builds resilient communities across Los Angeles County,” said
Department Director John Wicker. “We partner with numerous county departments and community-based organizations to provide an incredible array of free, fun and outcome-based programming and services for youth and families. PAD also provides a comprehensive and collaborative approach to fostering social cohesion, reducing crime rates, creating safe park environments, and enhancing health.”
In P&R Magazine, signing up for a program is also very, very easy! You can register for many activities online with a simple click of the mouse, saving you valuable time.
