The South Agency honored its more than 2,000 volunteers recently at Victoria Community Regional Park in Carson, during the first annual South Agency Cesar Chavez Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.
Special guest and keynote speaker Chief Deputy Director Norma E. Garcia, along with South Agency Deputy Director Carl Cooper and Regional Operations Manager Mika Yamamoto greeted and thanked the volunteers for their selfless contributions.
In 2017, South Agency volunteers contributed 119,847 hours of service at a national volunteer value of approximately $2.7 million.
These volunteers donate their time to parks and recreation programs and events in their communities such as, Parks After Dark, Summer Day Camp, After School Program and Youth basketball. Other programs that benefited from our volunteers included BAFTA movies and theater, Holiday Toy Giveaways, William Steinmetz Park Fourth of July Parade and Festival, the BRAVE Program, Dodger RBI and much more.
