As the school year has ended for many L.A. County youth, families are looking for affordable programs and activities for the summer to enjoy.
The Department of Parks and Recreation, along with Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, are giving parents and movie lovers a much needed break from the average $50 trip to the movies for a family of four by hosting MRT’s Free Summer Movies.
MRT Movie Nights will offer family friendly movies to the community at 12 South Los Angeles County Parks starting June 14 at Roy Campanella Park through August 11 at Victoria Community Regional Park. Families can enjoy movies on a large screen projector and multiple speakers that will create a genuine movie experience.
And, let’s not forget about the free popcorn!
“Families can come early and fire up the grill at the park before the movie starts and make an evening out of it, or just come for the movie,” said Mika Yamamoto, Regional Operations Manager with the Department of Parks and Recreation. “We want constituents to experience all the amenities the park has to offer.”
Movies will start at dusk, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, snacks and lawn chairs.
