Summer Beat Programs for Teens and Youth
Engaging, Empowering, and Free Programming at LA County Parks
The Summer Beat Program offers a variety of free and enriching activities designed to engage and inspire youth and teens across Los Angeles County. From creative expression to career exploration, these programs help young people learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and welcoming environment.
Supper Beat – Free Lunch and Snack Program
LA County Parks proudly offers a free meal program for youth ages 18 and under. Participants receive nutritious lunches and snacks featuring fresh fruits, vegetables, and other wholesome foods helping families bridge the gap when school is out.
• Meals are served on weekdays at participating park locations.
• Available only to youth ages 0–18.
• Meals must be consumed on site in designated areas.
This program promotes healthy eating habits, supports energy and growth, and helps combat food insecurity in our communities.
Summer Beat Youth and Teen Programs
Explore free, dynamic programming designed to support personal growth and discovery:
• Career Development and Leadership – Build skills for future success.
• Environmental Education – Connect with nature and learn about sustainability.
• Arts, Fitness & STEM – Participate in hands-on projects that foster creativity and innovation.
• Aquatics and Swimming – Learn water safety and improve swimming skills.
• DJ Academy and Performing Arts – Express yourself through music, dance, and performance.
Supper Beat – Every Body Plays
A free summer program for youth ages 7–17 that encourages physical activity, creativity, and community connection through:
• Sports and fitness activities
• Arts and crafts projects
• Theater and performing arts
• STEM and ESTEAM learning experiences
Programs are offered at numerous LA County parks and provide a safe, welcoming space for youth to explore their interests and build friendships.
Supper Beat – Our SPOT Teen Centers
Our SPOT provides teens ages 12–18 with a safe and supportive space to gather, grow, and have fun. Offerings include:
• Daily hot supper meals
• Sports and wellness activities
• Mentorship and leadership opportunities
• Homework assistance and academic support
• Access to cultural events and field trips
Free evening transportation is available at select locations.
DJ Academy
This hands-on program teaches teens the art of music mixing and live performance while building confidence and creativity. Participants learn DJ techniques, stage presence, and event production skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Offered at multiple park locations, DJ Academy welcomes youth of all experience levels.
Supper Beat – Youth@Work Program
Teens and young adults can gain paid work experience while serving their communities at LA County parks. Participants support recreation programs, special events, and community engagement activities while building valuable leadership and workplace skills.
Eligibility:
• Must be a Los Angeles County resident
• Work permit required if under 18
• Must provide right-to-work documentation
Nature Center Discovery Days
Families are invited to explore the wonders of nature with our Natural Areas Superintendents. Learn about conservation, wildlife, and the environment through engaging activities and guided exploration. Discovery Days are open to all ages and encourage a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Registration and Participation
• Many Summer Beat programs are drop-in and require no registration.
• Scheduled classes, swim lessons, and facility rentals are available through our online registration system.
