BOATING INSTRUCTION SAFETY
Located at Castaic Lake State Recreation Area, the 10,000 square foot Boating Instruction and Safety Center (BISC) was built in 2007 and is run by California State University Northridge (CSUN). The BISC operates as an instruction and small conference center for CSUN faculty, students, and program participants.
KAYAKING
Enjoy kayaking at one of Los Angeles County’s three recreational lakes and try a moonlight kayak for even more fun! Check with your local County of Los Angeles Lake for boat information about designated areas, times and classes, rules and regulations. Personal Flotation Devices (P.F.D.) must be onboard, of proper size and readily accessible at all times. Children 12 years of age and younger must wear a Coast Guard approved (P.F.D.). Also, all kayaks are subject to Quagga/Zebra Mussel inspections, which is strictly enforced.
PADDLE BOATS
Paddle Boats are a fun, family friendly activity and a great way to explore lakes in the park. Contact the park for available times, requirements and rental fees.
SAILING AREAS
Sail boating is permitted in designated areas of three Los Angeles County Lakes. Please check with your local lake for rules, regulations, restrictions and other requirements before you visit.
