The LA County Board of Supervisors and LA County Parks is proud to announce its Summer Camp 2020 program! We are offering affordable, fun, and educational camps for children ages 6 and up.
Camp begins July 6, 2020. Registration is first come, first served. Weekly payment plans are available.
There are three two-week sessions available:
Session 1: July 6-17 (Registration Deadline: July 2)
Session 2: July 20-31 (Registration Deadline: July 13)
Session 3: August 3-14 (Registration Deadline: July 27)
Specific restrictions and safety guidelines are required based on the type of amenity, in accordance with the health officer order.
Our program curriculum is focused on instilling positive youth development by using fun themes for participants to explore, learn new skills, and make friends. All camps adhere to COIVD-19 summer camp operation guidelines that includes physical distancing, cleaning, and the inclusion of personal protective equipment required for both staff and participants. Campers will be assigned to stable groupings during each session. Program participants will experience activities that promote mental wellbeing and self-care as we know LA County youth, too, have been impacted by COVID-19 and the civil unrest. Jump Into Summer Fun!

Description: What is your child doing this summer? Jump into summer fun at LA County’s parks for free recreation programming at select locations. Activities range from sports, fitness, group games and art activities. This is a non-custodial program and children sign themselves in and out. Call your local park to learn more. Participants should bring a snack, face mask and water bottle for filling that is labeled with the child’s name. Children should also wear closed toed sneakers. Recreation programs are supervised by trained staff. Children are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines.

Recreation Adventures
Fee: $272 per session or $136 per week w/payment plan and Extended Care is $48 per session per child per morning and per afternoon or $24 per week w/payment plan
Description: LA County Parks are the place to be for school-age children who are looking for an adventure. Camps are supervised by trained staff and children are kept in groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID-19 safety guidelines to ensure campers have have fun while staying safe. Activities include group games, fitness activities, sports, cultural arts, and science projects. This camp experience is designed to promote teamwork, making new friends, building self-confidence, and an appreciation for fitness and physical activity. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker and a mindfulness activity. Our fun filled day will end with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. Participants should bring a morning snack, face mask and water bottle for filling that is labeled with the child’s name. Camps are supervised by trained staff and children are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines Campers should also wear closed toed sneakers. Lunch and afternoon snack are provided at select sites. Weekly payment plans are available. Extended care rates available from 7 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 6 pm. Virtual parent orientations will be held on Thursday, July 2 at 9 am, 6 pm and 7 pm. Minimum enrollment must be met by the stated registration deadline otherwise the camp will be subject to cancellation or combined with other camps.

Our SPOT Teen Camp

Description: Our SPOT, Social Places and Opportunities for Teens engages and provides youth with the life-skills, mentors, peer-support, and experiences that will empower teens to reach their full potential. The program is supervised by trained staff. Teens have the opportunity to experience health and fitness classes, develop leadership skills, receive education on substance abuse prevention and self-expression through the arts. This is a non-custodial drop-in program. The program is generously support by the Los Angeles County Public Health and Probation Departments. Please bring a mask and refillable water bottle with you to Our SPOT. Teens should also wear closed toed shoes. Our SPOT is supervised by trained staff. Teens will remain in stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines. Virtual parent orientations will be held on Tuesday, July 7 at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Program Description: The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation ESTEAM (Environment, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) camp encourages children to become stewards of parkland. Campers will have the opportunity to become better connected with the outdoors, explore early career pathways, build their self-confidence and understanding of science, and learn to take-action to improve their natural environment. ESTEAM summer camp provides campers with hands-on learning activities that excites, energizes, and exposes them to a wide variety of skills and ideas. Children have fun learning by doing project-based activities, including nature walks, designing scavenger hunts. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker and a mindfulness activity. Our fun filled day will end with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. Youth Sports & Fitness Mini-Camp

Description:
This camp will feature the basic fundamentals of one-on-one drills for basketball, soccer, flag football, and volleyball using no touch equipment. Each camper will use their own equipment. No group practices, games or scrimmages will be played. Campers will experience a variety of drills and fitness activities that encourages physical fitness, conditioning, and builds individual technique. The emphasis is on FUN, Fundamentals and making friends. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker and a mindfulness activity. Our young athletes will end camp each day with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. Please bring a mask, healthy snack and refillable water bottle to camp. Campers should also wear and comfortable clothing to camp including closed toed sneakers. Camps are supervised by trained staff and are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID-19 safety guidelines. eSPORTS Mini-Camp

Description: Calling all gamers, LA County Parks and Recreation is ready to launch our first eSPORTS gaming center, and we want you to be on our team! Our eSPORTS camp offers gamers (beginners or advanced) the opportunity to level up their skills through game specific training, communication and leadership skills, and healthy gaming. The camp also focuses on fitness practices and social emotional development. All these skills will contribute to the skills needed for any future esports athletes to excel in their sport. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker, and a mindfulness activity. Our campers will each day with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. ESPORT gamers are coached by trained staff. Participants are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines. Youth Theatre Mini Camp

Description: This NEW workshop is offered by the Hacienda Heights Community Center staff. Participants will learn to audition for roles, rehearse acting, singing and dance choreography elements pertaining to the source material in a state-of-the-art-theatre. Material will vary each week. A virtual performance showcase will be held. Participants should bring a snack, face mask, and water bottle for filling that is labeled with the camper’s name. Camps are coached by trained staff. Children are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker, and a mindfulness activity. Our performers will end camp each day with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. County Capers Mini-Camp

Description: The stage is set, and the curtain is about to open! Join the Department of Parks and Recreation County Capers introductory performance theater program. Youth will experience dancing, singing, and acting in a fun and all-inclusive atmosphere. Each year, a different theme is chosen to bring out the entertainer in everyone. Participants will have an opportunity to showcase their talents and build their confidence by performing in costume with a talented cast in the County Caper virtual Finale. Camps are supervised by trained staff and children are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker and a mindfulness activity. Our young performers will end camp each day with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. Runway Modeling Mini-Camp

Description: Inspire, empower, and enrich the lives of youth in our communities through Runway Modeling. This camp is designed to encourage participants in the community to live out their dreams, improve their self–esteem, express themselves and learn about the modeling industry. Campers will learn how to use prompts, walk, poise, stand and, turn on the runway, while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guideline. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker, and a mindfulness activity. Our campers will end each day with a runway group huddle to appreciate our time together. Campers are mentored by experienced staff in the fields of fashion and modeling. Participants are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing. Arts and Crafts Mini-Camp

Description: Arts and crafts activities are a fun way to de-stress, boost confidence and foster creativity. Crafters will discover the benefits of arts and crafts while having fun creating a range of masterpieces using a variety of materials from recycled art, things found in nature and at home, and other natural materials. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker, and a mindfulness activity. Our young artists will end each day with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. Campers are mentored by experienced staff in the mixed media field. Participants are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines. Description: Promoting leadership skills early on in a child’s life can provide the necessary skills and experiences to take on life’s challenges while pursuing one’s dreams. In this camp, youth will identify leadership qualities they admire and will take on projects that encourage them to explore these attributes. Youth will experience activities ranging leadership games and hands-on projects that promote fairness, teamwork, communication and problem solving. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker and a mindfulness activity. Our young leaders will end camp each day with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. Camps are supervised by trained staff and children are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines. Description: Learn the basics of a variety of media careers in this state-of-the-art mini-camp. Participants will get hands on involvement with video production, podcasting, broadcasting, E-sports production, audio engineering, theatre production and more! Using high level equipment, participants will be able to create their own videos, make an audio recording and learn how to put on a professional theatre play production. Each day will begin with a group check-in, staying safe ice breaker, and a mindfulness activity. Our campers will end each day with a group huddle to appreciate our time together. Campers are mentored by experienced staff in the mixed media field. Participants are assigned to stable groups while practicing physical distancing and other COVID19 safety guidelines.
