Folsom Street Pocket Park Planning Project

The Folsom St Pocket Park Planning Project will study the community-identified opportunity for a neighborhood Pocket Park and develop a conceptual plan to transform 0.35 Acres of underutilized public land at Folsom Street and N. Gage Avenue.  This project will focus on establishing connectivity between N. Gage and N. Herbert Avenues, addressing neighborhood safety concerns, and maximizing the potential of this small site to bring much-needed park and recreation amenities to the City Terrace neighborhood.

This planning project will lay the groundwork for future implementation and is a step toward achieving the goals of increased park access and opportunities identified in the East Los Angeles Community Parks and Recreation Plan and the Parks Needs Assessment for Unincorporated East Los Angeles. Folsom Street Planning Project is funded by a Regional Park and Open Space District Technical Assistance Program grant.

Project Goals:

  • Study and identify site opportunities & constraints
  • Engage the local community in the planning process
  • Develop a community vision & conceptual plan for Folsom Street Pocket Park

We want to hear from You!

Thank you for participating in the Folsom Street Pocket Park Planning Project! After getting input from the community in the previous two workshops, the planning team has created two concepts based on the amenities that were prioritized in the Workshop 2 activity.

In the survey link below, there will be a brief overview of the two concepts, and then you’ll be asked a series of questions that compare specific parts of each concept plan to each other. You’ll be asked to vote on which part you like better in each comparison.

This survey will close on Sunday, 9/15. After the votes are tallied, the planning team will create a final concept that combines the two plans based on how respondents have voted. That concept plan will form the base of the Community Vision for Folsom Street Pocket Park.
