The Girls Empowerment Conference is an inspiring and transformative event dedicated to nurturing the personal and professional growth of young girls. Our mission is to empower and equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to navigate adolescence and boldly embrace their future.

Please save the date! The 11th Annual I Matter-Girls Empowerment Conference, hosted by LA County Parks, will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at East Los Angeles College. This impactful event will welcome over 1,500 young women ages 12–18 from diverse communities across Los Angeles County.

The conference fosters equity through parks and recreation, providing a platform for girls to amplify their voices, envision new possibilities, and pursue their dreams. With innovative programming, an inclusive environment, and meaningful engagement, this free event will inspire, connect, and empower participants.

Back by popular demand, this year’s conference will feature The Well-Being Village and the Resource Fair Activation – vibrant spaces where girls can explore hands-on activities, connect with community partners, and discover new tools to support their wellness, creativity, and growth.

Workshops will include:

  • Positive and Healthy Relationships – Build communication skills, respect, boundaries, and positive connections.
  • Career Exploration – Discover diverse career pathways and learn from successful women leaders.
  • Mindfulness and Self-Care – Practice techniques for stress management, resilience, and emotional well-being.
  • Women in STEM – Explore STEM careers and learn how LA County Public Works impacts millions of lives.
  • Visioning for Environmental Justice – Create a zine, explore social media’s role in advocacy, and learn how to engage with the LA County Youth Climate Commission.
  • Girls in Sports – Experience the benefits of sports for confidence, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Entrepreneurship – Hear from female entrepreneurs and learn how to bring creative business ideas to life.
  • Dance and Movement – Explore hip-hop culture and choreography inspired by influential female artists.
  • Self-Identity – Engage in discussions on body image, self-care, personal growth, and empowerment.
  • Empowerment and Resiliency – Build confidence, overcome challenges, and strengthen leadership skills.
  • Be You Vision Board Party – Express creativity through art while focusing on self-care and future goals.

The Well-Being Village and Lunch Party will also highlight community and County partners, including the Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, LA County Library, LA County Public Works, and more—offering engaging resources and activities to support wellness, creativity, and community connection.
