The Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Junior Lake Lifeguard Program offers youth ages 9-17, instruction in lifeguard rescue techniques, first-aid, open water sport activities, and physical conditioning. Participants are led by Lifeguard staff in daily hands-on activities promoting the importance of teamwork, water safety, and re-enforcing an active lifestyle. Our goal is to educate youth in our communities, develop leaders, and the next generation of future lifeguards.

PROGRAM DATES
Session 1: June 16 – July 3 (Mon-Thurs)
Session 2: July 7 – July 24 (Mon-Thurs)
REGISTRATION
Registration for Program Sessions will OPEN: Saturday, May 3, 2025 @ 8:00am
New Junior Guards & Returners (who took a year off) are required to pass a swim TRYOUT before they can register for the program. 2024 Summer Participants are not required to try out.

TRYOUTS
New participants are required to complete our (3) module swim test at one of our official Tryouts. If your child may need some extra help before attempting the swim test, we recommend looking into our FREE Practice Swims which are available, at the beginning of April 2025.
Tryout Swims (2025):
Dates: April 19, 26, 27 (Weekends)
Time: 8:30am-3:30pm
PRACTICE SWIMS (TRYOUT PREP)
“Practice makes perfect!” FREE swim technique-work with Lifeguard Staff. Our Practice Swims are a great opportunity for new participants to improve their swimming stroke, speed, and confidence in the water, before attending Tryouts.

Dates: April 5, 6, 12, 13 (Weekends)
Time: 9:00am-11:00am
SCHOLARSHIPS
