PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The projects consist of improvements and upgrades at the existing water park facility, including installation of fans in employee break areas; addition of changing room stations; park lighting improvements designed to direct light toward the park and avoid light spillover; interior improvements to the restaurant facility; restroom upgrades; and park shade improvements. The projects also include safety, accessibility, operational, structural, and maintenance upgrades to existing water park attractions and support facilities, including:
- Amazon River safety and accessibility upgrades
- Aqua Rocket attraction improvements
- Bermuda Triangle slide improvements
- Body slide padding improvements
- Child attraction water circulation and sanitation improvements
- Pool safety systems upgrades
- Raging Racer and Dark Hole water circulation improvements
- Splash Island structure improvements
- Thunder Rapids structure improvements
- Installation of a wave pool LED screen
- Attraction safety systems upgrades
- Pool and surface coating improvements
- Primary surge tank upgrades
- Slide coating improvements
- Speed slide pump and support upgrades

EXEMPT STATUS: Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code: Sections 15301 (a) & (d); 15303 (e) and 15331
REASONS FOR EXEMPTION: The activities are consistent with Sections 15301(a) and (d), 15303(e), and 15331 of the State CEQA Guidelines because they involve the repair, maintenance, restoration, rehabilitation, and minor alteration of existing public facilities, including interior and exterior building improvements, plumbing and electrical upgrades, the restoration of deteriorated facilities to meet current public health and safety standards, and the construction of limited new accessory structures. The restroom upgrades involve work on a historical resource and will be conducted in a manner consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
