It’s hard to believe, but students will soon be ending their summer vacation and parents are already preparing their kids for the upcoming school year.
The Department of Parks and Recreation will make such preparation a lot easier during a “Back to School Night” taking place Thursday, Aug. 2, as part of the Parks After Dark (PAD) Program at Belvedere Community Regional Park, 4914 E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave., in East Los Angeles. Los Angeles County First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis is expected to attend.
This free event takes place at the Cesar Chavez parking lot from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., during which the first 200 children in attendance will receive a free backpack. Additionally, school supplies will be handed out during a PAD resource fair that will also provide community members access to valuable health, social, economic and legal resources.
With this event being part of the Department’s PAD program, participants will also enjoy a wide array of activities that last until 10 p.m. They include a free concert, free food, swimming, a water safety demonstration, free bike raffles, a basketball tournament, a reptile petting zoo, a kids zone and much more.
