Lower LA River Trail & 72nd St. Equestrian Park Project

The Lower LA River Trail Restoration & Access Gateway Project is a planning project that will develop conceptual designs to improve 1.3 miles of the Lower LA River Trail between Somerset Blvd. and the I-91 Freeway, and to elevate 72nd Street Equestrian Park as a proper access gateway that welcomes the community to the river. Key goals of the project are to address the blighted and dilapidated conditions along the trail; to promote investment in existing public facilities that will serve adjacent communities of need; and to be a catalyst and model for transformative project improvements within the river corridor.

This planning project will lay the groundwork for future implementation and is a step toward achieving the goals of increased access and recreation opportunities identified in the LA River Master Plan and the Lower LA River Revitalization Plan.

The project will:
• Strengthen 72nd Street Arena’s connection to the river corridor
• Restore multi-use trail connectivity and access between Alondra & Somerset
• Include amenities such as upgraded fencing, civic art, and new signage
• Increase shade cover and improve landscaping areas with native planting

We want to hear from you about signage! Survey closes June 7th.

There is still time to take our Lower LA River Survey which closes June 7th.
