Filming & Photography General Information

The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation loves the movies! With so many parks, gardens, lakes, and natural areas, we have a wide variety of locations and scenery that location scouts are looking for.

The Department hosts approximately 300 film projects a year ranging from:

Feature Motion Pictures, such as Star Trek, The Flintstones, and Meet the Fockers.

Television Series, such as Criminal Minds, Bones, NCIS.

Television Commercials, such as Target and McDonalds

Still Photography Shoots for various magazines and publications.

All filming at County parks, other than non-commercial photos such as among family members, require a film permit issued by Film LA Inc., the entity authorized by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to process film permits for all County operated facilities. This also includes film projects by students and non-profit organizations.
