DPR is proposing to develop new park amenities at the Devil’s Punchbowl Natural Area. The Proposed Project entails planning for the replacement of the Nature Center that was destroyed by the Bobcat Fire in 2020 with a new building while also making improvements to the surrounding support site elements including trail heads, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access to buildings and trails, picnic areas, and shade structures.

The Proposed Operational Changes to the Virginia Robinson Gardens Draft Supplemental EIR (SEIR) includes revisions to the operational characteristics and public accessibility of the project site, requiring modifications to the operational limitations established in 2014 SEIR.

The Deane Dana Friendship Park Trail Signage Project proposes the development of approximately 2.5 miles of trail, including installation of wayfinding signage, trail rehabilitation, habitat restoration, and related improvements at the Deane Dana Friendship Natural Area.

The project will provide an approximately 525 linear feet meandering multi-use (equestrian, hiking and mountain biking) connector trail to the Altadena Crest Trail within the Loma Alta Staging Area from the existing equestrian horse arena south of the project site.

The project involves the operation of two pedestrian gates (the “Gates”), during park hours, constructed at Cloverdale Avenue and Padilla Place.

The project involves the installation of 6-foot-high fencing between the Bowl Loop and the property line, near Padilla Place.

The Los Angeles District, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) on behalf of the County of Los Angeles, Department of Parks and Recreation (Proponent). The Proponent has requested the Corps’ approval to issue special event permits to concessionaires for two large annual re-occuring events, the Spring and Fall Fairs, and, in addition, a second group consisting of several smaller events, at leased Areas A, B, and D of the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in unincorporated Los Angeles County, California, for a 5-year period from 2022 to 2026.
